Global private equity investment was down by 25 percent to just $93bn in the first half of 2012 according to TheCityUK’s Private Equity 2012 report, continuing the decline seen in 2011. However, although the UK private equity firms saw a similar decline in investments in 2011, buyouts increased to £8bn in the first half of 2012, a 38 percent increase on the second half of 2011.
