Costa Rica was the top destination for medical tourism in Latin America in 2020, with a 71.73 score on the Medical Tourism Index (MTI). The Dominican Republic ranked second, rating 66.32 points based on the destination environment, its medical tourism industry, and the quality of healthcare facilities and services. Argentina was third that year, with a MTI score of 66.26.
