Artificial intelligence (AI) has gained significant traction in the global programming community with the release of numerous development tools. In 2023, OpenAI’s products topped the list of the most used tools by technology professionals worldwide. Nearly 75 percent of these professionals reported using ChatGPT, including versions 3.5 and 4, while over 58 percent specifically reported using ChatGPT 3.5. Microsoft wasn’t far behind with its AI coding products. Visual Studio IntelliCode was used by 24.4 percent of respondents, while GitHub Copilot, another Microsoft-owned tool, was used by over 17 percent of IT professionals.
