In 2022, around 8.18 percent of Indonesia's electricity was generated from hydropower energy. Indonesia depends heavily on fossil fuels for electricity generation, with coal and natural gas supplying the majority of electricity across the country. However, the Indonesian government has set a target to achieve 23 percent renewable energy use by 2025, and the share of power generation from renewable energy has increased over the past few years.
