Prevalence of suicidal ideation among Canadian adults in 2019 and 2021, by income
A survey from 2021 found that around 4.2 percent of adults in Canada in the lowest income bracket had suicidal ideation in the past 12 months. A different survey found the prevalence of past-year suicidal ideation among this group to be 3.5 percent in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic may have played a role in the increase from 2019 to 2021 of low income adults reporting suicidal ideation. This statistic shows the share of adults in Canada with suicidal ideation in the past 12 months in 2019 and 2021, by income.
