Annual greenhouse gas emissions change in Germany 1991-2022
Germany's greenhouse gas emissions decreased by 1.9 percent in 2022. Emissions increased by roughly four percent the previous year, having rebounded from the eight percent reduction recorded in 2020. The second-largest annual reduction since 1990 was observed during the global financial crisis in 2009, at seven percent. Since 1990, GHG emissions in Germany have increased nine times.
