In the fiscal year 2020, around 7.4 billion cubic meters of the tap water supply came from dams in Japan, representing the largest source of tap water. Water from rivers followed, amounting to almost four billion cubic meters of water. In the same year, the total tap water supply in Japan amounted to over 15 billion cubic meters of water.
