Safaricom split their revenue across six primary sources during the financial year ending 31 March 2023, with the telecommunication company's mobile money system – M-Pesa – and outgoing voice calls accounting for over 64 percent of total revenue. M-Pesa is one of the leading mobile money services in Africa, providing financial and payment services even if the customer has no access to a bank account.
