Retail footfall year-on-year change in retail parks in the UK 2019-2021
Due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis and social distancing measures the UK government took, retail footfall data following March 2020 saw an unprecedented fall. In the United Kingdom (UK), visitor numbers to retail locations were generally in decline, but for retail parks it had been less dramatic. Over the period displayed here, the most noticeable improvement in footfall has taken place during the most recently reported month of May 2021, when footfall improved by over 10 percentage points on the previous month. In December 2021, footfall to retail parks declined by 9.2 percent compared to pre-pandemic levels.
