Population growth rate in Russia 1990-2022, by area
Urban population of Russia shrank by 0.3 percent between 2021 and 2022, while the rural population saw a decrease by 0.56 percent the same period. Significant peaks happened in 1992 and 2004, when the rural population grew by respective 1.88 and 0.85 percent, partly at the expense of the urban population decline. As for the urban population, the growth rates were strictly negative between 1991 and 2006.
