In this period, the vast majority of food purchases in the Netherlands were made in regular supermarkets. Over 60 percent of food purchases were made through regular supermarkets, making this the most frequently used purchase channel in food retail. Within the same period, just over four percent of food purchases in the Netherlands were made online.
