Primary energy production breakdown in the U.S. 2021, by state
Texas is the largest energy producing state in the United States. In 2021, it accounted for 23.8 percent of the country's total energy production, with the majority originating from crude oil and natural gas. The Permian basin, which stretches across the west of Texas, is largely responsible for the state's huge production output as it is the most productive fossil fuels basic in the country. Meanwhile, Wyoming, which ranked third, was the largest supplier of coal energy.
