As of the first quarter of 2024, approximately 42 percent of 16 to 24-year-olds were economically inactive in the United Kingdom, compared with 12.8 percent of 25 to 34-year-old's, 12.4 percent of 35 to 49-year-old's, and 27.3 percent of 50 to 64-year-old's.
