During the early period of the COVID-19 pandemic from March 29 to April 25, 2020, girls aged 12-17 years were around 27 percent less likely to visit the emergency department (ED) for suspected suicide attempts compared to the same time interval in 2019. However, during the period February 21 to March 20, 2021, they were 50 percent more likely to have visited the ED for suspected suicide attempt compared to the same time interval in 2019.
