Taxes as proportion of market revenue in the mobile sector in African countries 2017
Taxes and fees paid by mobile operators in Sub-Saharan Africa corresponded to 26 percent of the sector's market revenue in 2017. From a country perspective, Guinea had the highest level of taxation, 61 percent of market revenue. Chad, Zambia, and Congo were also heavily taxed, at 37 percent, 35 percent, and 33 percent of market revenue, respectively. By contrast, mobile operators paid fewer taxes in Nigeria (seven percent), and South Africa (12 percent).
