According to a series of surveys conducted by GEM Partners in 2020, the share of people in Japan who thought that they would for some time watch content like movies and drama series via video streaming services instead of theaters due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic amounted to 53 percent in December. This constituted an increase of four percent compared to November.
