McKinsey Consumer survey fielded in 2018 found that compared to respondents who reported good mental health, those who reported poor mental health reported twice as many emergency room visits, 1.6 times as many inpatient stays and 1.2 times as many primary care visits. This statistic shows the increased likelihood of healthcare services utilization in the past 12 months among those with poor mental health compared to those with good mental health in the U.S. in 2018.
