The reconstruction expenses of the main body of Japan's National Stadium amounted to approximately 150.7 billion Japanese yen as the project was completed in November 2019. Without the cost of demolition work, approximately 156.9 billion yen in total were utilized to reconstruct the stadium. The National Stadium was planned to be used as the main stadium of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics held in Japan.
The government agreed to pay half of the expenses and the rest was divided into half between the sports promotion lottery of the Japan Sport Council and Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
