Impact of sugar tax on soft drink consumption Singapore 2019
According to a survey conducted on implementing a sugar tax in Singapore in July 2019, around 52 percent of the respondents surveyed stated that they would consume less soft drinks if the tax was implemented. By comparison, 23 percent of the respondents claimed that they would stop consuming soft drinks entirely. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
