Pork consumption has been decreasing in Germany.
In 2023, the self-sufficiency rate for pork in Germany was 134.1 percent. The self-sufficiency rate indicates the percentage of required agricultural products that are produced domestically. In case of undersupply (under 100 percent) the respective products have to be imported.
