Gasoline retail prices in the U.S. 2024, by state
On April 3, 2024, the price of regular gasoline was highest in California, at around 5.15 U.S. dollars per gallon. This was some 1.5 dollars above the national average of 3.55 U.S. dollars. California was the only state to see average gasoline prices above five U.S. dollars that day. Its ranking as the most expensive state for conventional motor fuels follows it being the U.S. state with the highest gasoline tax.
