Five years have passed since the beginning of the economic crisis which saw the demise of many shipping companies and shipyards and a dramatic reduction in the number and the cost of newbuilding orders. However,2013 marked a significant change with a strong revival in ship orders, which tripled compared to 2012, and with an increase in selling prices of 10 to 20 % a direct consequence of this increased demand and the volume of the shipyards’ orderbooks.
