Studie zum optimalen Bahnsystem

This study aims to support the discussion on the optimal setup of a rail system by looking at selected countries outside Europe in order to identify the main lessons learned. A special focus is given to the question of vertical integration vs. separation of infrastructure and train operation. In this study, "vertically integrated" means that managing both infrastructure and train operations is the responsibility of a single group/company (the system integrator) notwithstanding the implementation of un-bundling provisions within this group (e.g. accounting, legal and operational unbundling).
